Beef Lasagna

Beef Lasagna

The best lasagna you will ever have.  It will be even better used with our ground beef!

Ingredients for 9X13 deep pan

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 pkg lasagne noodles (Ready to Bake type)
  • 4 cans Pasta sauce
  • 1 tub cottage cheese
  • 1 can mushroom soup
  • 1 egg
  • 2 super large bags Grated cheese: Edam/Mozzeralla and/or plain Mozeralla

Preparation before assembling  – preheat oven to 350 degrees

  1. Cook the ground beef in a frying pan to lightly brown
  2. While it is cooking get out 1 large and 1 medium bowl
  3. Mix Cottage cheese, mushroom soup and egg in the medium bowl
  4. Pour 3 cans of pasta sauce into a large bowl and stir. Add about 1/2 to 2/3 jar of water to the sauce and stir. (When you are building/layering the lasagne you can make the determination on whether you need to add the last can of sauce.)
  5. Open cheeses
  6. On your counter put your lasagne pan in font of you with the noodle box (now open) beside the pan and the bowls and cheese in a circle around the pan.
  7. When the ground beef is browned, bring it to the circle
  8. Now you can start building the lasagne.
  9. Cover bottom of pan lightly with sauce (ladle or a small measuring cup)
  10. Cover with noodles – you will need to break them either to shorten or to narrow
  11. Spread half of the cottage cheese mixture over the noodles using large spoon
  12. Sprinkle ground beef over top – just enough to cover but can still see through
  13. Sprinkle grated cheese over top
  14. Cover everything with sauce – use lots
  15. Repeat #’s 10 – 14
Before you layer again make a judgement on the height of your pan to know if it will take 1 or 2 more layers. If only one you should try to use all of the items on the second layer except the grated cheese and the sauce.
  16. If your pan is high enough Repeat layering again.
  17. Top Layer of noodles gets covered with sauce
  18. Save remaining grated cheese to put on top of the noodles (sauce too)
  19. Cover loosely with foil.

Now put this pan on a cookie sheet and place in the preheated oven.

It will take 1 – 1.30 hours to cook. Once almost done remove foil and cover with grated cheese and leave in oven until the cheese is melted. Remove from oven and let it sit for about 15 – 20 min before cutting. You will need a lifter and a large spoon to serve.
